House Boy Who Killed Naval Officer & Girlfriend Explains Why

The houseboy of a naval officer, Lieutenant Abubakar Yusuf, has owned up to killing his 35-year-old boss and his girlfriend, Lorraine Onye, blaming the crime on frustration.

After strangling Onye, a 300 level student, the suspect, Raphael Jaja, stabbed Yusuf to death, packed his corpse in a bag and took it to a bush where he set it ablaze.
The native of the Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area, Rivers State, said he decided to end the lovers’ lives cruelly because his boss allegedly refused to pay his 15 months’ salary, but could afford to buy an expensive phone for the girlfriend and pay N300,000 rent for her.

He said the naval officer had promised to help him save the salary – N15,000 per month – and pay him at once so he could use the money to plan his wedding. He said he felt bad when Yusuf reneged on the promise.

Reports had it that the naval officer killed his lover and took to his heels until recently when a discreet investigation conducted on the incident by DCP Abba Kyari-led Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team unraveled the mystery behind the crime.

Saturday Punch learned the investigation followed a report made by the father of the late naval officer to the police.

The detectives got a lead after tracing Yusuf’s mobile phone to Jaja’s friend in Port Harcourt. The friend, who bought the phone from Jaja, led the operatives to arrest the killer houseboy on Monday, June 4, 2018.

A police officer told Punch that Jaja confessed to the crime and led investigators to recover the carcass of the naval officer in the bush as well as the deceased’s Hyundai Veloster which he sold for N1.9m.

“We also recovered the naval officer’s phone which he exchanged with the friend in addition to N30,000,” the officer added.

While giving a shocking revelation about the crime in an interview with a Punch correspondent on Wednesday, 28-year-old Jaja narrated how he struck a relationship with his late boss and lived with him in his one bedroomed apartment.

He said “I am a technician. I have worked at Abuja International Airport. I returned to Port Harcourt in 2016 because my brother was ill. In July 2016, somebody introduced me to Lt. Yusuf that he wanted to install a DSTV. He was serving at the Navy Primary School in Port Harcourt. After I installed the DSTV, he told me to fix some wires. He was happy with the job I did.

“I told him I wanted to go back to Abuja, but he persuaded me to stay back and work for him. He gave me the spare key to his apartment and I started living with him. He promised to pay me N15,000 monthly and that he would pay all my money before my marriage slated for December 2017. He met his girlfriend sometime in 2017. Whenever she passed the night at the apartment, the lieutenant would ask me to sleep in a store in the compound.”

Jaja explained that he helped the late officer to execute two contracts worth N22.8m in September 2017 and he promised to give him a share of N2.5m. He said for ethical reasons, Yusuf did not use his name to secure the contracts, which involved the supply of computers to technical schools.

“While I was preparing for my wedding, I asked him to give me N400,000; he said he had no money. I eventually borrowed N320,000 to do the wedding. In January 2018, I went back to him to ask for my money. He said he did not have money and that I was disturbing him. I stopped going to the barracks. In March 2018, he called me several times, but I did not pick his calls. When I later picked, he said he had a job for me. On getting to his office, he said he had given it to somebody else because I didn’t come on time. He laughed at me.

“I went to the barracks to help one of his colleagues fix a DSTV. On my way back home, Lieutenant Yusuf called me to help him take his decoder to the DSTV office for a reset. He gave me N1,000 transport fare. When I came back, he asked me to service his generator. When I finished, he gave me N1,000. I told him the money was small and that he was being unfair to me. I asked him to give me some money so that I could establish my own business to take care of my family. He said he did not send me to go and marry.

“The following day, he called me that the generator was not working again. He told me to buy N1,000 oil on my way to the barracks. After I fixed the generator, I asked him for payment, but he said he had given me N1,000 the previous day. I told him I collected the N1,000 because he was my boss.

“I asked for the money he was owing me again; he said he had no money and that I was disturbing him. He said he was also planning his wedding,” Jaja added.

He told Saturday Punch that he began to plan Yusuf’s murder in April 2018 when the naval officer returned from Abuja with a new Hyundai Veloster. Jaja stated that he met with the deceased on April 30 and demanded to know why he refused to pay him.

Ajaja explained, “He said he did not send me to marry and that I should carry my cross. I went back to him the next day for the money. He asked me to help him prepare noodles. There was a drug, Tanlin, in my pocket. I bought it because of a dog that my neighbor, who just packed out, left behind. The dog was disturbing me and I wanted to give it the drug so that it would sleep off. I put a little of the drug in the noodles. I discovered the drug did not have any effect on him.

“On May 3, I went back to his house. I met only his girlfriend at home. We did not like each other, but I decided to be friendly with her that day. I asked her to tell me about her relationship with my boss. She was initially reluctant until I assured her I meant no harm. She told me that she and my boss were supposed to travel to Canada in 2017, but they couldn’t make it. She said he bought a phone for her and gave her N300,000 to rent a house.

“I was annoyed as she was saying all these. I asked her if she knew my boss’ phone password; she said she did not know it. I persuaded her to tell me his ATM card password and she did. I pretended that I admired her hairstyle and told her to turn her back. The moment she did so, I held her neck and strangled her. She was foaming. She died afterward. I hid her corpse somewhere in the room and covered it with clothes.”

The self-confessed murderer said his boss did not suspect something was amiss when he returned from work in the evening, adding that the officer retired to bed afterward. He said he unleashed terror on the boss around 4am while he was still asleep in the bedroom, stabbing him to death with a knife.

“I packed his corpse in a bag and kept it in the boot of his car parked on the premises. I cleaned the bloodstains on the floor, wore his uniform and drove the car out of the barracks. I drove the car to a village called Apani and dropped his body in a bush. I looked for a tire and set his corpse ablaze. I burnt it so that nobody would be able to trace him.

“Still in the uniform, I drove the car to Benin, Edo State, where I sold it to one Alhaji. He did not want to buy the vehicle because I could not give him the documents. I convinced him that I am a naval officer and that he has no reason to be afraid. He bought the car N1.9m, but he was to pay me a balance of N120,000 before I was arrested through a church member I exchanged my boss’ phone within Port Harcourt,” he narrated.

The expectant father further revealed that prior to his arrest, he traveled to Lagos State to withdraw N250,000 in Yusuf’s bank account, adding that he sent a text message to Onye’s phone to implicate his boss and traveled back to Port Harcourt.

He said, “I withdrew the money in Lagos so that the police would focus on tracking the withdrawals to the state. There was a day my boss and Onye were arguing over their relationship. He told her that his father had already got him a woman he would marry. So, I exploited that argument to send a text message to her phone, stating that my boss killed her. I killed them out of anger. It was not intentional. All I want is forgiveness.”

Pres Buhari Will Sign Off 2018 Budget On Tuesday

President Muhammadu Buhari will sign the government’s long-delayed budget into law on Tuesday, Information Minister Lai Mohammed has confirmed.

“We will sign it off on Tuesday,” Mohammed said.
The total sum laid out in the spending plan passed by the Senate is higher than the 8.6 trillion-naira budget presented to parliament by President Muhammadu Buhari in November.
Mohammed said he expected the delay would have little effect on government projects.

“Even once a budget is passed, there are still processes, due diligence to be done ... this takes time,” he said to Reuters.

2019 Election: “Prophet Reveals What God Told Him About Buhari And Atiku”.

The Presiding Bishop of Divine Seed of God Chapel Ministries, Prophet Wale Olagunju is known for his predictions. The man of Godin the heat of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s romance with President Muhammadu Buhari had predicted that a serious fight would break out between the two leaders, a forecast that failed to come to fulfillment until recently.
In an interview with Daily Sun, the prophet provided insight into the 2019 general elections and other issues of national importance. Excerpt:

It would be recalled that a national newspaper criticized your prediction of January 1, 2017, that there was going to be a serious fight between incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a failed prophecy. Now with the turn of event, how do you react to the write-up?

Well, I have written a letter to the editor and they are yet to reply. When you look at the prophecy in question, I did not indicate a date. When you talk about prophecy, it can come to fulfillment anytime and that is why we are witnessing what we are witnessing today. The writer wrote that Obasanjo did not write any acerbic letter, not quite long after, the ex-President wrote an acerbic letter and here we are today the incumbent is probing Obasanjo’s power project, so there is a serious fight now between the duo. That is a public affirmation of the prophecy. For me, I have filed my case in the court of the Almighty God who rules and judges the affairs of men. How can someone criticize and condemn the words of the Almighty on which He places more honor than even His name? They have committed a serious sin against the Almighty. The case is presently in the court of the Almighty that rules and judges in righteousness. I pity the writer and those behind the publication.

Now that the Federal Government has threatened to commence a probe of former President Obasanjo’s £16 billion power project, what has the Lord told you would be the result of the fight by these two elephants?

Yes, we have been hearing about probes in this country. I don’t think any reasonable thing would come out of it. What informed the probe was that Obasanjo is no more supporting Buhari. If Buhari means business, let him probe all past leaders. Today, if you criticise President Buhari, you are in for it. If Buhari is no more probing Jonathan, why must he probe Obasanjo? Why did he single out Obasanjo, simply because the Ota man is no more supporting him?

President Buhari’s intention to run for the second term in 2019 is no more news. Does the incumbent have any divine backing to emerge the winner?

Let me give you my own biblical view, whenever there is injustice there will be no peace. Forget about those bishops who are saying it shall be well with Nigeria. I am a die-hard supporter of Buhari in those days. One, to me his war against corruption is too selective. Buhari should know that corruption is a sin against God and mankind, so the war against it should be total. I expect him to restructure Nigeria to balance the equation. He should conduct transparent censors to address the injustice that is going on in this country, create job opportunity for the youths who are roaming the streets and address the problem of tribalism in the nation, correct the lopsided appointments. It is not in the mind set of God for Buhari to rule beyond May 29, 2019. Look at the just concluded bye-election in Oyo State, yes, PDP floored APC hands down. This is just the beginning of what awaits Buhari and his APC come 2019. As earlier predicted by me in my prophecy of 2017 and 2018, let me be frank and declare before God of heaven and the whole earth, even if Buhari should red carpet the whole nation, Buhari and his APC will not win the 2019 presidential election. In my 2017 prophecy, the Lord told me He would raise adversaries against him and even his own kinsmen, the Hausas would disown him. What are we witnessing now? The Lord gave me the signs through my prophecy; there is no way he can win. Some Nigerians in their own thinking have said that Buhari is a man of integrity. Where lies the integrity in the life of Buhari when he chose his own people, the Fulanis to manage the security affairs of this nation, shedding innocent blood on daily basis, marginalizing the Christians and the Igbo have no say in the affairs of Nigerian nation? Why? To me, the thinking of those who are supporting Buhari today is upside down. Under Buhari, the government doesn’t value integrity and value system is no more.

Don’t you see yourself stepping on toes based on all these revelations?

Biblically, prophets dictate the pace of their nation. When I say prophets of the Bible, I mean true prophets of God. To God be the glory. I am not one of those prophets that eat or seek any political appointment or contract under the table of any presidents or governor either in the past or present. Even though I have great opportunity to do so, I refused. So, I can boldly declare. If I am stepping on toes of anybody or government, it is divine and I am not bothered nor moved.

Who are you, sir? How do you receive your power, I mean the source of your spiritual power?

I am one of the few prophets in Nigeria, who take an active part in guiding our nation through righteousness, peace, and progress. Also, I am an ambassador of God and Christ representative on earth. I am Wale Olagunju; I derive my power and boldness from God of the ancient prophets.

Ekiti State gubernatorial election is coming up in July. Has the Lord revealed the winner to you?

Firstly, it is unfortunate that killing is going on in the state even before the election proper. If there is a clean, free and fair election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Professor Eleka would defeat Fayemi hands down. People might be thinking on why should Fayemi contest again? This is what is going on in the heavenly where power and principalities rule. As revealed to me by God of Heaven, the spirit of vengeance descends and enters the heart of the cabal in the Presidency and the message is: who shall we send to deal with Fayose who has committed many atrocities against God and the Ekiti People? Remember in 2015, Fayose equated Jonathan with Christ Jesus, this was a serious sin before the Almighty God, and so, Fayemi is on a vengeance mission. The Presidency will use every available power to wrest power from Fayose. Only the last minute miracle of the century can make Fayemi lose the election, and save Fayose from being jailed. You see the reason why the election is going to be tough, so it does or dies affair. In a nutshell, as revealed to me Fayemi is on a revenge mission.

In your 2018 prophecy, you claimed that God told you that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo would not only forgive Atiku but that he would also throw his weight behind him in his bid for the Presidency. Considering the present political trend, are you sure this is still going to happen?

Yes, as Almighty God who knows the heart of man lives, Obasanjo will forgive and support Atiku for the presidency. And Atiku will defeat Buhari come to 2019 Presidential Election. Did you read The Sun Newspaper publication of May 27, 2018, where General Jemibewon, in an interview, vowed to stake his neck in support of Atiku’s bid for the Presidency? So, notable Nigerians would support and root for Atiku come 2019. I am not campaigning for Atiku, whatever comes out of my mouth is based on the revelation that I received from God. To me, it is idiotic and stupid for anybody to say I have collected Ghana-Must-Go from Atiku. Let us wait till 2019 and see.

''Doctors Declared Ras Kimono Fit 3 Weeks To Death''

Daddy Faizer, the manager of the late popular Reggae musician, Ras Kimono, has said the singer underwent a medical test about three weeks ago and the doctors said he was in a good shape.
When Sunday Scoop visited Kimono’s house in Magodo, Lagos, during the week, family members and well-wishers swamped the residence. Efforts to speak with the only daughter, Oge Kimono, who was around, were abortive as she was not in a good condition to talk.

However, Faizer told Sunday Scoop that the late Reggae singer did not suffer from any strange illness before death.

He said, “Being his manager doesn’t mean I am a doctor. As far as I knew, he went for a medical test about three weeks ago and he was declared healthy. But you know how certain things happen. When death comes, it comes and no one can prevent it. We should leave all to God who knows better.”

Speaking on burial arrangement, he revealed that the death was still fresh, adding that the family members would need to meet. He said, “We are in Africa; the burial plans will be decided by the family members. There is little we friends can do, but I am still trying to hold Kimono’s band together because they will have a role to play in his burial. So, whatever plans the family has, we will harmonize them and see how we can be of support. Once the plans are solid, it will be communicated to the public.”

Faizer, who is also an OAP, stated that since he came in touch with Kimono in 1984, they had remained friends. He added, “I was an undergraduate when I met Ras Kimono. Being friends with someone for 34 years means you guys must have a strong bond. He was a nice person and he would always share your problems. If you needed help and he was in a position to assist, he would gladly do so.”

Edo Indigenes Coming From Spain Die In Fatal Accident On Lagos-Ibadan Road. Graphic Photos

Eight persons, five males and three females, have lost their lives in an accident on Tuesday morning when a Hummer bus conveying them rammed into a Mack truck. The accident occurred around 8:30am at the Wictech stretch of the Lagos – Ibadan expressway about two km away from Danco filling station.

The victims – all believed to be Edo State indigenes, who just flew into the country from Spain this morning, had chartered the bus marked BEN 313 YX on the fleet of Iyare Motors and were going to Benin City for an engagement, when the accident happened.

Operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps(TRACE) were sighted evacuating victims, clearing obstructions and directing traffic.

The Public Relations Officer of TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed, said the driver of the speeding hummer bus ram into the rear of a truck marked MUS 730 XN in bids to overtake it.
Akinbiyi said seven of the victims died at the accident scene while one other died later. Their remains have been deposited at the morgue of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu where two others rescued alive, were also receiving treatment.
