Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. -Colossians 3:23-24Father, I come before you thankful that you have made work a part of life and given me the opportunity to glorify you in my work. Thank you that I can work hard and go to bed tired each day. Thank you for the good days and the difficult ones, and for the gifts, you have given me to help this world be a better place through my work.
While I know work is good, I also know our work today isn’t what you intended and is often hard and frustrating. We all know sin’s consequences on work: toilsome labor, injustice, and trials; and also the pain of wanting work but not finding it. May these painful situations drive me to a deeper longing for the return of Christ and consummation of all things — including work.

May the gospel shape my work habits and attitude, helping me to avoid the dual dangers of not working enough (laziness) and working too much (making work an idol). Help me to be a humble, teachable, hardworking, and complaint-free employee, even when doing the mundane tasks I’d rather avoid. May I work in faith and be motivated by a love for you and a love for those whom my work benefits.

Establish the work of my hands by helping me to be productive, patient, focused, and insightful. Keep me from distractions and from technology hindering my work instead of helping it. May your Spirit lead me in my work and help me to be joyful, creative, and worshipful–constantly reminding me of your love and that you’re the reason I have breath in my lungs. Teach me to align my work, family, church life, and rest in a way that would maximize your glory and allow me to bear the most fruit for your kingdom.

Cause my work and attitude to adorn the gospel and shine the light of Christ into this dark and desperate world. Help me bless my workplace by living a salty, gospel-worthy life in front of my watching co-workers, and help me honor my boss as I honor you. Make my heart worship and enjoy you throughout the day, knowing that you are the reason for breath in my lungs and the One I am really serving.

And as I work, fix my eyes on Jesus and His finished work on the cross that gave me treasure I could not earn, rest that I could not otherwise experience, and a living hope that will fuel me to work for the glory of God. Amen.

Man Hacks Off Wife's Legs Because He Thought She Was Cheating

A man has hacked off the feet of his wife identified as Putu Careen in the presence of their two young children because he thought she was cheating on him.

According to report, the woman was attacked by her very drunk husband her native town Canggu, Bali in South East Asia.
Photos of the weapon believed to have been used in the attack were found in her home. Local police say the suspect 'regretted' his attack and drove the 33-year-old victim to the hospital after inflicting the shocking injuries. 

Mrs. Careen was pictured in agony on a hospital bed, with her bloodied legs bandaged as doctors battle to save her life. Her children, who witnessed the horrendous scene, are aged just nine and 13-years-old.

Badung Police Chief, Yudith Satriya Hananta told local media that: "The left leg of the victim broke the ankle, while the victim's right leg almost broke with a cut on the shin".

Police have detained the 36-year-old suspect, while an appeal has been launched to raise money for the victim's care.

Man Snatching Car With A Child Inside Inside The Car Has Been Arrested

A young man who snatched a vehicle on Friday night at Gaa Akanbi area of Ilorin, Kwara state, has been apprehended by security men. There was a baby in the car when the incident happened.
After the vehicle was snatched, police operatives were notified and they swung into action.

The culprit was nabbed as the stolen car and baby inside was recovered.

How To Get Your Life Back From Too Much Busy & Stressed Out

When we feel too busy and ruled by our schedule, we’re often using our time as a cover-up for what’s in our hearts. It’s easier to stay busy sometimes than dealing with our underlying fears, failures, emotions, and worries. No calendar overhaul will change our hearts. But we often find that as we make concrete changes our hearts, too, change.

So how do we get our lives back from a hectic schedule? How do we break free from business to live lives that are peaceful, reflective of our goals and our faith, and work towards the health of our families, our neighbors, and the world around us?

Here are a few ways to start:
1. Stop and Pray
We have to first stop and take account of our schedules. Get your calendar out and sit down with those in your family who make the decisions and discuss what you’re already committed to. What brings you life and joy? What furthers your purpose as an individual or a family? What are you doing just because you think it’s expected of you?

Pray over your calendar. Our time is a precious commodity we can use to love God and love others. When we’re so busy, we don’t have space in our lives to love others well. Pray for guidance that God would allow your commitments to reflect what He loves and what He’s doing in the world.

2. Set Goals
Assess your goals and create a personal or family mission statement. What are your goals as a family? If you want your children (and you!) to increase in kindness, faithfulness, and love of God and neighbor does what you have on your calendar reflect those goals? Spend some time articulating your long-term goals for growth. Then take these goals and look at your commitments.

Evaluate how you spend your time. For instance, if hospitality and welcome are important to how you live out your faith, then make sure that’s reflected on your calendar.

3. Say “No” to Make Room for “Yeses”
We can’t be superheroes and we can’t do everything. If you’re a working mother, it might be hard to join the PTA and volunteer in your child’s class. That’s okay. We don’t need to do everything. But it may be possible to invite another family for a barbecue on the weekend and help out by teaching Sunday School at church.

Remember your goals. We have to constantly re-evaluate our schedules knowing both what God is calling us to and how he’s equipped us as individuals to work as a body of believers. That means that we have to say a lot of “no’s” before we’re able to say “yes.” Saying “no” will free up space in our hectic schedules for us to say the right “yes” that will not only make us feel less harried but more than that, will help.

4. Schedule
As you continue to work with your calendar, and as you pray, set goals, say no so you can say appropriate yeses, and evaluate, schedule the things that further your mission statement. Make room in your calendar for the long-term projects and dreams that get crushed out by daily minutiae. Pray for your eyes to be opened to needs around you and allow the Holy Spirit to move in you to work for God’s kingdom right where you are.

May our calendars and schedules reflect not only our own goals but more importantly, may they be instruments to love God and love our neighbor.

ASUU Strike: FG Begins Payment Of University Lecturers' Salary Arrears

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has disclosed that the Federal Government has begun the payment of salary arrears of the striking university teachers.

But the lecturers, under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) insisted that the Federal Government must remit N200 billion into the universities’ revitalisation fund before the ongoing strike can be suspended.
ASUU leaders, who came to the negotiation table with a former President of the union, Prof. Assisi Asobie and President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Abuba Wabba, explained that the payment of their salary arrears without getting a commitment to the payment of the N200 billion for the rehabilitation of the universities would portray the union as being only concerned with the welfare of its members and not the general improvement of the teaching conditions in the institutions.

Issues in contention include the registration of Nigerian Universities Pension Management Company (NUPEMCO); fractionalization of salaries in federal universities and gross under-funding/non-funding of state universities and arrears and the implementation of earned academic allowance; and the non-release of funds for the revitalisation of public universities as spelt out in the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding.

Other issues are guidelines for the retirement benefits of professors in line with the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement; Treasury Single Account (TSA), etc.

A mentally unstable woman welcomed a bouncing baby in Sapele area of Delta state. According to an eyewitness, a woman who sells 'Bole' (roasted plantain) noticed that the mentally deranged lady was in labor. She tried to assist her but noticed that the woman's placenta refused to come out.
The woman called for help and a doctor identified as Ugochuckwu arrived the scene. She reportedly injected the woman to aid her push and deliver the baby smoothly...

The baby who was safely delivered was taken by the doctor to the hospital as the woman's family were located.
