APC Rejects Former Abia Gov. T.A Orji – Right of Reply

Our attention has been drawn to a canard – with the headline – vide ut supra, credited to a former Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Mr. Stanley Ohajiruka, wherein he deliberately wants to give respiration to down for the count Abia State All Progressive Congress (APC), with Senator T.A Orji’s gargantuan political image.

Though we appreciate how desperately he and his allies want to get out of political oblivion through APC and how essential it is to first make the party acceptable to Abians, doing so with the illusion that a juggernaut and political game changer like Senator Orji will consider dumping PDP for APC is tantamount to action in escapism.
Senator Orji is an institution in Abia State and much more popular than Abia APC and its members put together. His ambition is too enormous to be actualized in a party which domiciles individuals he defeated severally in elections and subdued ad infinitum politically.

Instead of this gross exhibition of fanfaronade and phony intrepidity, we advise Ohajiruka and others of that ilk to show compunction, humble themselves before Senator Orji to see how they can be readmitted to the PDP and their political career invigorated.

We understand how Abia APC wishes to have Sen. Orji in its fold as such move will give immediate respiration to it and make it a party to beat in Abia State. But as the aphorism goes, if wishes were horses’ beggars will ride.

Boko-Haram Hits Army Convoy With Explosives Laden Truck, kills 5 soldiers, injures 40

About five soldiers died, 40 injured when a Boko Haram jihadist rammed an explosives-laden truck into a military convoy in the northeast, security sources told AFP.

The bomber, believed to be loyal to factional leader Abu Al-Barnawi, targeted the convoy, which was conducting “clearance operations” between Yobe and Borno states.
“At about 1100 hours (1000 GMT) on Thursday, a suicide bomber believed to be a Boko Haram terrorist riding in a van loaded with explosives rammed into a military convoy at Manguzum village,” one said.

“We lost five soldiers in the incident and more than 40 sustained various degrees of injuries,” one officer said, asking to be anonymous as he was not authorized to speak about the incident.

The convoy was heading to the garrison town of Damboa, which is some 90 kilometers (55 miles) from the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, at the time.

A second military source said the troops were heading into Borno when the jihadist crashed his vehicle into a tank.

“The armored tank was seriously damaged and the operation slowed down,” he added.

Fani-Kayode Names 3 Men He Claimed Made Jonathan Lose 2015 Election

Quoting Femi Fani-Kayode, he said; That Mauzu betrayed us during the 2015 presidential campaign and that Jega was working for Buhari is not news. The biggest secret and greatest...traitor of them all was the man that brought both Mauzu and Jega to do a dirty job and sabotage our efforts.
His name was Hassan Tukur.
He is an evil genius. His treachery and collusion with the APC cost us the 2015 election and opened the door for Buhari. God will judge him.

I don't know if we should take FFK's allegations serious.

Wike, Fayose & FFK Are Silent About The Latest Expose On Ikoyi Billions- Read Why

Following EFCC discovery and recovery of about $43m from a private apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, tongues started wagging as to the identity of the owner or owners in view of other discoveries without ownership in Kaduna airport, Legico shopping mall, Balogun market, etc.

But before one could say Jack..., the trio of Governors Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani Kayode jumped into the fray in a well orchestrated manner and chorused that the cash belonged to Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, former Rivers state governor and minister for transportation, even without producing any fact to back up their allegations rationally and legally.
In fact, governor Nyesom Wike in borrowing a leaf from his brother in utterances and conduct, party associate and friend governor Ayo Fayose, was quoted as threatening that the Federal government will not know peace until the recovered Ikoyi funds is repatriated to the coffers of the Rivers state government which he insisted against logic, rationality, and facts as the owner of the funds.

Despite the NIA DG coming forward to claim ownership of the money as belonging to his agency as funds approved by immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan for some covert operations, Nigerians were very doubtful because of the indisputable fact that our environment is one in which truth is in short supply privately and publicly, coupled with the fact that the money was recovered from a private residential apartment and not from any of the offices of the NIA which was claiming ownership.

However, in the midst of the brouhaha over the Ikoyigate, public interest in the matter increased the more rather than abate because of the repeated abuse of public trust by those saddled with the responsibility and the resolve of the people that it must no longer be business as usual in this era and administration of change.

With the increased public consciousness to get to the root of the Ikoyigate, came the disclosure of the names of the owners and occupiers of the apartments in the building including the one from which the money was recovered, which was listed as being occupied by the DG NIA and his wife.

Consequently, the publications of the names of the occupiers of the apartments in the building exposed the barefaced malicious blackmail and campaign of calumny by the trio of Wike, Fayose and FFK as the arrowheads, acting out a well orchestrated script to malign the name of Mr. Rotimi Amaechi at all cost because of political differences and to distract Nigerians from the substance of Ikoyigate, which is a testimonial of how the administration of former President Jonathan abused public trust and undermined national security which they seem to have knowledge of.

Unfortunately, since the latest action of the Federal government of suspending the SGF and DG NIA by constituting a 3 man investigative committee headed by Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to determine the appropriateness of the Ikoyigate funds and report back in 2 weeks, the conspiratorial silence of the trio of Wike, Fayose and FFK has exposed them as hatchet men with intentions which is at variance with public good.

As we await the outcome of the investigative panel that we are hopeful in, one can only enjoin Nigerians to be patient and expect that justice will be served and refuse to be distracted and confused by anti-democratic agents on the prowl.

Amazing! US Based Nigerian Woman Marries Lesbian Partner

A Nigerian lesbian woman, 53yrs old Moji Solar-Percy, walked down the aisle with her American ‘wife’ on Tuesday in the US, celebrating the freedom that she would not have had in Nigeria.
Solar-Percy, a real estate mogul, runs a company, Solar Worldwide Realty Inc. in Staten Island, New York. She gushed about her love for the woman, with whom she probably would have been arrested if the wedding had taken place in Nigeria.
Solar-Percy, who describes herself as a mother, realtor, LGBT activist, speaker, coach and host on her Facebook page, did not reveal the name of her partner.

She wrote on her Facebook wall;
“Today I woke up in a cold sweat. I was drenched with fear, for a moment. I forgot where I was. I ask you all to close your eyes, imagine what would have happened Saturday at our wedding if we were in Nigeria.

Nigerian Woman Marries Lesbian Partner This is terrible!

“Even though we went to great lengths to make sure we had security, the thought of the police barging in and arresting all our guests, my wife and I, to be carted off to jail, the women raped and beaten, the men brutalized, and my children was beaten along with everyone else.

“When I got my bearings, I got on my knees and thanked God for his grace of living in the US. Then I remembered all the people that could not do what we did with grace and class. To all of you (gay) all over Africa, #westandforyou. May all our days be filled with blessings and grace.”

In Nigeria, such a gay marriage would have met with a clampdown from authorities as a result of the country’s Same-S*x Marriage (Prohibition) Law, which prescribes up to 14 years jail.

Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN); and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, as members.

Magu appeared before the committee members for hours at the Vice-President’s office inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja as the committee began sitting early Friday.

It was gathered that the EFCC chairman was asked questions on the recovery of N13bn, which the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency had claimed belonged to the agency.

It was learned that Magu justified the raid on the Ikoyi apartment where the money was recovered and briefed the committee on the investigation into the operation.

A top source, who confided in Punch, said, “The meeting with Magu was part of the assignment of the committee. He was asked questions on the operation and as expected he justified it.”

It was gathered that the committee asked EFCC to continue with its investigation into the money.

Amazing! Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg just signed the death warrant for the smartphone

It's no secret that Mark Zuckerberg is pinning Facebook's future prospects on augmented reality — technology that overlays digital imagery onto the real world, like Snapchat's signature camera filters.

At this year's F8 conference, taking place this week, Zuckerberg doubled down on the company's ambitious 10-year master plan, which was first revealed in 2016. On this timeline, Facebook expects to turn artificial intelligence, ubiquitous internet connectivity, and virtual and augmented reality into viable parts of its business over the next decade.
And to accelerate the rise of augmented reality, a big part of the plan, Zuckerberg unveiled the Camera Effects platform; basically a set of tools for outside developers to build their own augmented reality apps that you can access from the existing Facebook app's camera, theoretically opening the door for Facebook to host the next "Pokémon Go" phenomenon.

And while this announcement seems pretty innocuous, make no mistake: Facebook is, once again, putting itself into direct competition with Google and Apple, trying to create yet another parallel universe of apps and tools that don't rely on the smartphones' own marketplaces. As The New York Times notes, Zuckerberg has long been disappointed that it never built a credible smartphone operating system of its own.
This time, though, Facebook is also declaring war on pretty much everyone else in the tech industry, too. While it'll take at least a decade to fully play out, the stuff Facebook is talking about today is just one more milestone on the slow march towards the death of the smartphone, and the rise of even weirder and wilder futures.

Why buy a TV?
Zuckerberg tipped his hand, just a little bit, during Tuesday's Facebook F8 keynote. During a demo of the company's eventual vision for augmented reality, in the form of a pair of easy-to-wear, standard-looking glasses, he showed how you could have a virtual "screen" sitting in your living room, bigger than your biggest TV.

"We don't need a physical TV. We can buy a $1 app 'TV' and put it on the wall and watch it," Zuckerberg told USA Today ahead of his keynote. "It's actually pretty amazing when you think about how much of the physical stuff we have doesn't need to be physical."
Which makes sense, assuming you're into the idea of wearing a computer on your face (and you're okay with Facebook intermediating everything you see and hear, glitches and all).

But it's not just TVs. This same philosophy could extend to smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, fitness trackers, or basically anything else that has a screen, or that relies on a screen, to work. Zuckerberg even showed off a street art installation that's just a blank wall until you wave the Facebook camera app over it, revealing a mural.

For Microsoft, which already dipped its toe in the area with the HoloLens holographic goggles, this is a foregone conclusion. HoloLens boss Alex Kipman recently called the demise of the smartphone the "natural conclusion" of augmented reality and its associated technologies.

War of the worlds
The problem, naturally, is that a huge chunk of the world's economy hinges on the production of phones, and TVs, and tablets, and all of those other things that Facebook thinks could be replaced with this technology.

Again, even Zuckerberg acknowledges that it's a long road ahead. That said, this Camera Effects platform, should it succeed in attracting a bunch of users, will go down as a savvy move. The apps that get built for the Facebook Camera today are going to wind up as the very first versions of the apps you'll use with those eventual glasses.
In the short term, Facebook's play for augmented reality is going to look a lot like competition with Snapchat, which, in a very meaningful way, it is. Facebook needs developer and user love, and so needs to keep offering fun and funny tools to keep people from moving away from using its apps.

In the long term, though, this is really Facebook versus everybody, ushering in an age of a brand new kind of computing. And pretty much every tech company out there is going to get caught in the crossfire, as Apple, Google, Microsoft, and more rush out their own responses to this extremely existential, but still meaningful, threat.
