The management of the University of Benin, Edo State, has announced the suspension of its post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The announcement was made barely 24 hours after the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, instructed the nation’s tertiary institutions to stop the conduct of the exercise.

“If any tertiary institution has conducted the post-UTME, such an exercise stands annulled and money taken from candidates must be returned immediately,” Adamu had said in a statement through the Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations, in the ministry, Mr. Ben Mem Goong.

The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Michael Osasuyi, said on Tuesday that the suspension was with immediate effect and in compliance with the Federal Government’s directive.

“They (candidates) should just be calm and rest assured that the University ‎of Benin will not in any way flout the Federal Government’s directive and will not in any way undermine their choice for the university,” he said.

Billionaire heiress Tamara Ecclestone’s message to those criticising her breastfeeding pic

The 31-year-old heiress who is daughter to Formula 1 billionaire, Bernie Ecclestone was slammed by trolls who say she’s oversharing for posting an image of herself breastfeeding her child. They told her the images were ‘gross’ and that there was ‘no need’ for her to post pictures of her ‘t*** hanging out. In response Tamara said:

‘I would tell them to go eat their dinner in the toilet. I think all mothers should support each other and stick together instead of picking flaws.
It’s tricky as parenting is one of those things everyone seems to have an opinion on and a lot of the time it’s unwanted and can be so cruel. ‘I am doing my best as a mum by following my heart and intuition. I feel mums should really listen to their intuition; no one knows their baby better.’

Australian Man Pleads Guilty To Making Online Threats Over Tinder Profile

An Australian man has pleaded guilty to making sexual threats on social media, in what is seen as a landmark victory for opponents of online harassment.
Zach Alchin, 25, sent the comments on Facebook in response to a picture his friend shared of a woman’s profile on the Tinder dating app.

He told police he was drunk and was unaware he was committing a crime.
The woman whose picture was at the centre of the story says she is “pretty shocked” he changed his plea to guilty.

Alchin had previously pleaded not guilty but changed his plea on the first day of his trial in Sydney.
He will be sentenced in late July and could face up to three years in jail.
‘What law am I breaking?’

In August 2015, a friend of Alchin’s – who was not charged – shared a screenshot of the profile of Olivia Melville’s Tinder profile.

It included a sexually explicit lyric from singer Nicki Minaj and rapper Drake’s song Only.
The post and Alchin’s comment, “Stay classy, ladies”, quickly spread through social media, with many leaving abusive comments about Ms Melville, 25.

When her friends defended her online, Alchin then wrote more than 50 posts, including rape threats, derogatory comments about feminists and saying that women should “never have been given rights”.
He was reported by 24-year-old Paloma Brierley Newton, a friend of Ms Melville.

Alchin admitted posting the comments after he was arrested, but told police he had been drunk and that he was unaware it was criminal behaviour.

Court papers said he told police that he had been internet trolling a “group of feminists that were harassing me and my friends”.
Alchin had allegedly asked Ms Newton what “law he was breaking” when she threatened to report him to police.
‘Sending a message’
Ms Newton, Ms Melville and others set up advocacy group Sexual Violence Won’t Be Silenced in wake of the incident, to challenge online sexual harassment.

“We are extremely pleased that Mr Alchin has plead guilty”, the group said on Facebook.
“Out victory today sends a message to all women that they don’t have to put up with harassment online; that there are steps and channels they can take, and that Australian law is on their side.”

“This case will be the first of its kind and will represent a landmark victory for opponents of online harassment,” said Ms Newton in a statement. “We will no longer be silenced.”

Alchin was charged with “using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence” – but that law was written more than two decades ago, before Facebook or Tinder existed.

Until this case, the courts had only used that law to try people over telephone and text message communications. It had not been clear whether threats made on social media could be punished under pre-existing Australian law.

In response to Alchin’s guilty plea, Ms Melville told an Australian news service: “After so long of him saying he would plead not guilty, of course I’m happy.”

Nearly half of 1,000 Australian women indicated that they had experienced some form of abuse or harassment online, in a survey by computer security firm Norton.

Technology: Tanzania Starts Manufacturing Helicopters

Tanzania has begun building its own helicopters that will be taking to the skies soon.
A Tanzanian-made two-seater chopper is in its final stages of production will start flying trials once it is granted permission by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority, reports Daily news.

Arusha Technical College’s department of mechanical engineering initiated the programme, so as to build affordable choppers for Tanzanians to ease the country’s transport woes.

“We are complementing President Magufuli’s industrialisation policy in pioneering the first locally-made helicopters that will be available to ordinary residents at affordable prices,” explained the engineer behind the ATC chopper project, Mr Abdi Mjema.

It was initiated two months ago with the aim of using the chopper for surveillance, rescue and agricultural purposes, but reframed to transport people.

Now 50 per cent done, the pioneer aircraft has a chassis, as well as airframe ready, and uses a popular gasoline-powered VW flat engine board that is also used to make the “Robinson” helicopters in the US. But the craft will be ready in three weeks’ time.

“Once we get the aviation authority’s approval, we shall complete the most sensitive part of the helicopter – mounting the main rotor”, said the engineer.

Arusha city in the northern region of Tanzania is looking to make history as the first region to fly the first-ever Tanzanian manufactured helicopter in July 2016.

With a flying ceiling of 400 to begin with, due to the high altitude in the mountainous region and a non-pressurised cabin, the Prototype ATC helicopter will change things for the East African nation. The engineers will increase the flying height to reach 8,000 feet above sea level (that of the normal commercial chopper) with more complete and accomplished models.

According to the college, it can produce up to 20 choppers in a year, when the project gets a nod from higher authorities. “The Tanzania-made helicopters will fly before 2020 and specifically 2018, which is two years from now,” said Mr Mjema.

Can't Laugh! Father R*pes, Impregnates Daughter Because His Wife Is Denying Him Sex

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Ike Iwuanyanwu, for raping and impregnating his own 15-year-old daughter, Priscilla (pseudonym) at Ajao Estate, in the Isolo area of the state.

It was gathered that Iwuanyanwu, who was a company driver living on Anuoluwapo Street in the estate, was arrested on Wednesday after the matter was reported at the Ajao Estate Police Division.

Mr Iwuanyanwu had also allegedly beaten his daughter and wife, warning them not to disclose the messy incident to anyone.

It was learnt that the victim had been taken into custody by the Lagos State Government.

According to Punch, Priscilla’s mother, however, informed her family members on Wednesday, who went to the girl’s school to confirm the story from her.

The case was reported to the state Ministry of Youth and Social Development, which informed the police.

A neighbour of the Iwuanyanwus, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim was the first child of the family, adding that the father had allegedly confessed to the crime.

She said, “The man is a driver and the girl is his first child. None of us knew anything about the incident until he was arrested. The only thing we saw was that the man beat up his wife and daughter late in the night on Tuesday.

“The girl was pregnant and the father tried to hide it. It was her school that informed Lagos Government. The girl confessed that it was her father who r*ped and impregnated her. The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development alerted the police and the man was arrested.

“The suspect did not deny that he impregnated the girl. He knew the government was involved and he had no hiding place. We learnt he told the police that his wife did not allow him to have s*x with her and he yielded to the temptation of r*ping his daughter.

“The girl’s mother told her family members, who then went to her school. They did not know the school authorities would get the ministry involved. The matter was also reported to some child rights workers in the Oshodi area.”

Priscilla’s mother allegedly took the 15-year-old to a place where the pregnancy was aborted.

The pregnancy was said to have been aborted before she was rescued and taken into custody by officials.

The police arrested Priscilla’s mother on Thursday for involvement in the alleged abortion.

The Coordinator, Domestic and S*xual Violence Response Team, Lagos State, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the victim was safe in government’s custody.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the sad incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.

India Court Jails 11 For Life Over Gulbarg Massacre In Gujarat Riots

A court in India has sentenced 11 people to life in prison for their roles in a notorious massacre during the 2002 anti-Muslim riots in Gujarat.
Of the 24 people convicted for the so-called Gulbarg Society killings, 12 were jailed for seven years while one man was sentenced to 10 years.

During the attack, 69 people were hacked and burned to death by a mob.
More than 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, died in the riots, sparked by a fire on a train that killed 60 Hindu pilgrims.
Critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was the state chief minister at the time, say he did little to stop the riots.

The special court in Ahmedabad called the incident the “darkest day in the history of civil society”.
However, Zakia Jafri, the wife of Ehsan Jafri, a prominent Muslim politician and a former Congress party MP, who was among those killed, has expressed disappointment at the sentencing.

“I was there when Ehsaan Jafri was killed, it’s not justice at all,” she told reporters.
Survivors of the Gulbarg massacre say he fired his gun in self-defence as the mob attacked the complex.
Mrs Jafri says her husband called Mr Modi for help but it never came.

66 people were accused in connection with the massacre – six died before and during the trial and one is still being sought by police
The trial began on 7 September 2009

338 witnesses, including eight women, were examined

Mr Modi has always denied any wrongdoing and has not apologised for the riots. A Supreme Court panel also refused to prosecute him in 2013, citing insufficient evidence.

The violence was initially investigated by the Gujarat police and subsequently by an independent Special Investigation Team (SIT) appointed by the Supreme Court in 2008.

The Gulbarg massacre was among 10 key incidents in the riots being investigated by the SIT.
Some of these cases have brought convictions.

In August 2012, a court sentenced 31 people, including Maya Kodnani, an ex-minister and aide to the then chief minister Narendra Modi, to life for their part in murdering 97 people in Naroda Patiya, a suburb of Ahmedabad. Ms Kodnani was granted bail on health grounds in 2014.

In April 2012, a court sentenced 18 people to life imprisonment for the murder of 23 Muslims in Ode village in Anand district.
Five others were given seven years and another 23 were acquitted.
In November 2011, a court sentenced 31 people to life in prison for burning to death 33 Muslims near Sardarpura village.

Nobody Has Spoken To Me About My Father’s Death Or Funeral – Keshi’s Son

Stephen Keshi Jnr, 27, who arrived at the NFF Secretariat on Wednesday morning expressed dismay that his father’s funeral was being fixed without his knowledge.

Keshi Jnr who was in company of US–based chemist and friend of late Keshi, Victor Ugoh and former Super Eagles’ star Victor Obinna Nsofor, told journalists

“I just came into Nigeria on Tuesday night, and we read in the papers today that somebody has fixed a date for the burial. I am shocked like my sisters and my brothers. Since our father died, nobody has spoken to us about how he died, and we have not even seen his corpse. Yet, someone is fixing a date for his burial!”

“I cannot thank everyone enough. We have only heard good and great words about our father since his death. I am going to Benin City now. The family will sit down and come up with a date for the funeral, but we also appreciate that he was a national figure and will harmonize our plans with that of the Government and the NFF. “Our father was a loving family man and we will miss him greatly. Our joy is that he left a worthy legacy for Nigeria football and for his family.”

Keshi’s daughter, Ifeyinwa and husband, who are based in North Carolina, USA also flew into Nigeria on Tuesday.

New Star Wars And Resident Evil Games To Be Revealed At The E3 Video Games Trade

Sony has unveiled a raft of new games that will be playable in virtual reality on the PS4.
New Star Wars and Resident Evil games were among those revealed at the E3 video games trade show in Los Angeles.

Virtual reality debuts for Batman, Final Fantasy and Call of Duty were also shown off.
The titles will require gamers to use the PlayStation VR headset, which will cost $399 (£280) when it is released on October 13.

“It’s not for the faint of heart in terms of the type of game experiences they’re going for, it’s really that hardcore ethos,” games industry analyst Lewis Ward at IDC told the BBC.
Mr Ward had just tried a demo of sci-fi space shooter Farpoint in PS VR following the press conference.
“It’s very intense,” he said. “I was sweating.”

Mr Ward added that while the selection of titles was likely to attract gamers, the titles themselves might be a little overwhelming.
“The first wave of VR probably has to be careful with the amount of motion in games because of motion sickness,” he explained.
In an interview with the Financial Times prior to E3, Sony confirmed that it was planning to release an upgraded PlayStation 4 called “Project Neo” that will be capable of outputting 4K graphics.
Besides the virtual reality titles, Sony also previewed several exclusives including long-awaited adventure game The Last Guardian, first announced in 2009.
The game’s release date has been set as October 25, 2016.
However, highly anticipated space simulator No Man’s Sky did not make an appearance.

Analysis: Dave Lee, North America technology reporter
Sony’s virtual reality offer may not end up being the best, but it will be a first: the first affordable, high-end VR headset for the masses.

Sony made a point of saying its PS4 is already powerful enough to run VR – a dig at Microsoft, which had earlier announced a new console to offer that, in late 2017.
The truth is that PS VR is just less sophisticated than the Oculus Rift and HTC’s Vive.
Resident Evil was an apt title to show off.

Back in the days of the first PlayStation, the game used to have these tense, creaky door moments. They would take 20 seconds or so to open, building the fear… but also allowing the console time to load the room ahead. Smart!
In PS VR Resident Evil, your view is lit by torchlight, a narrow and eerie field of vision – therefore much less intensive to render. With restriction comes creativity, I guess.
Many of the other PS VR experiences were not quite full games. Single missions rather than whole titles.

Exclusives PlayStation showcase

Sony’s press conference featured a live orchestra, which played throughout the event, on occasion providing accompaniment to live demos of some of the games.
After an extended overture from the musicians, Sony Interactive Entertainment executive Shawn Layden made reference to the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida which this weekend left 49 club-goers dead.
“On behalf of the PlayStation community, I just want to say that our thoughts are with the victims and the families and the community of Orlando,” he said.

Mr Layden’s remarks were followed first by a preview of an upcoming PS4 exclusive, God of War, featuring Kratos – a character from earlier games in the series.
Other exclusives showcased included Days Gone, a third-person zombie-filled title from the development team behind the Syphon Filter series.
And there was gameplay footage of Horizon: Zero Dawn, in which a female protagonist battles robotic dinosaur creatures in a lush natural landscape.
Superhero fans weren’t left out either – a teaser trailer for a new Spiderman game was shown.

There was also a surprise appearance from critically acclaimed game designer Hideo Kojima.
“Hello everyone,” he said, addressing the audience, “I’m back”.
Mr Kojima unveiled a new game, Dead Stranding, with Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus in a lead role.
No gameplay footage was shown, however, and the title does not yet have a release date.

Brazilian Manager Has Been Sacks Dunga

Dunga has been sacked from his position as Brazil manager after a disastrous Copa America Centenario.
The Selecao were eliminated from the tournament in the group stage after drawing with Ecuador and losing to Peru, either side of a 7-1 victory over Haiti, which proved irrelevant.

He is expected to be replaced by Corinthians manager Tite, who will take charge of the side at the upcoming Olympic Games, held in Brazil.
Brazil could only manage a single victory at this summer’s tournament in the United States, a 7-1 win.

Dunga came into the tournament under pressure after his team underperformed in their 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

That was compounded by poor performances in the United States this month, leading to his dismissal.
The Brazilian FA (CBF) released a statement reading: ‘The Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Tuesday the decision to dissolve the Brazilian national team’s technical commitee.

Leaving their positions are the teams coordinator, Gilmar Rinaldi, coach Dunga, and his entire team.
‘The decision was taken in agreement during a meeting this afternoon and, from now, the CBF is starting the process of choosing the new technical committee for the Brazilian national team.
Their loss against Peru on Sunday night came after Raul Ruidiaz scored the winning goal with his hand

‘The CBF give thanks for the dedication, the attitude and commitment of the previous staff while performing their work.’

This is the second time Dunga has been sacked as his country’s coach, having also met the same fate after being eliminated from the 2010 World Cup.

He was hired again after Brazil’s collapse under Luiz Felipe Scolari in World Cup 2014, where they lost 7-1 in the semi-final against Germany.

Nigeria allows naira to float against US dollar

Nigeria will allow the embattled naira to trade freely in a move to control the currency crisis in Africa’s most populous nation.

The new system will come into effect on 20th June and is expected to lead to a significant devaluation of the naira.

Being a major oil exporter, Africa’s biggest economy has taken a hit from the fall in commodity prices.

The fixed currency rate had created a vast black market for US dollars and squeezed the country’s economy.

Nigeria’s central bank had long been expected to allow the naira to be more flexible and trade at a market-driven rate.
The naira is fixed at 197 to the US dollar, but the black market rate has soared to 370 in recent months.

The currency fix was introduced in February 2015 to stop the naira from falling when lower oil prices sparked trouble for Nigeria’s economy.

But a prolonged period of holding a currency at an artificial level often has a disruptive effect as foreign companies become reluctant to import goods when they are paid at distorted levels.
Recession worries

In May, Nigeria’s central bank governor had warned a recession was “imminent”.
A lower value of the naira will make domestic products cheaper and competing imports more expensive, which is hoped to help the struggling economy.

Companies have suffered from the crisis, being forced onto the black market to pay for imports of goods and equipment.

The expected devaluation is thought to also bring back investor confidence as foreign companies had found it increasingly difficult to do business in Nigeria.

A number of foreign airlines recently stopped flying to Nigeria after they were unable to repatriate up to $600m (£417m) in ticket sales, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Engineering giant Rolls Royce has written to employees saying it wants the UK to stay in the European Union.

Brexit would “limit any company’s ability to plan and budget for the future,” the firm said.
Meanwhile, the CBI has said a vote to Leave would “put British businesses out in the cold”.
But Leave campaigners said the CBI does not represent British business and is “the voice of Brussels”.

Rolls-Royce chief executive Warren East said Brexit would give the aero-engine maker’s big American rivals a competitive advantage.
‘Hollow threats’

He told the Today programme’s Dominic O’Connell that a planned £65m new engine testbed facility was a “good example” of an investment that could be put at risk.
“It’s all about uncertainty and our position in Europe.

“We have a very interconnected operation around Europe… We’re making investment decisions all the time about where to place various parts of our operation… and uncertainty created by Brexit puts a lot of those decisions on hold, and that pause is something that our US competitors don’t have to cope with,” Mr East said.

But Vote Leave said that some of the UK’s leading firms “have been clear that if we Vote Leave, trade across Europe will carry on as before.”

“Of course pro-EU voices want to talk down the economy but the same hollow threats were proved nonsense over the referendum and the euro,” a Vote Leave spokesman said.
“Taking back control of trade deals wouldn’t disadvantage us with US firms, quite the opposite – as we could do a trade deal with the US that the EU is failing to do.”
‘Investment risk’

The company’s intervention in the Brexit debate is significant. As well as enjoying a famous name, it remains Britain’s premier engineering company, and accounts for £1 in every £50 of British exports.
It employs 37,000 people – three-quarters of its total workforce – in the European Union. It claims to support about 200,000 jobs across the trading bloc.

Mr East said its big American rivals – GE and Pratt & Whitney – would not suffer from the “pause” in investment caused by the uncertainty around Brexit.
“It is like we are running a multi-lap race and with each lap we are giving the competitors a ten-yard head start,” he said.

He has previously said Britain would be better off staying in the EU.
Rolls-Royce is the middle of a big expansion drive, with the intention of doubling the number of aero engines it makes from the current 400 a year.

As well as big operations in Derby, it has a significant presence in Germany, America and Singapore.
A number of firms have come down on the side of Remain.
This week BT bosses and union leaders backed Remain said they wanted the UK to stay in a reformed EU.

In February a group of firms including Marks & Spencer and Vodafone said an EU exit would deter investment in the UK.

But in March, Vote Leave published a list of 250 business leaders who it said supported Britain leaving the EU, including former HSBC chief executive Michael Geoghegan and hotelier Sir Rocco Forte.

‘Out in the cold’
Meanwhile, the CBI said on Wednesday that business groups from Switzerland, Norway, Albania and Canada had said maintaining full access to the EU single market is in the best interests of the UK.
Carolyn Fairbairn, CBI director general, said: “Access to the single market allows ambitious firms to buy and sell easily in 27 other countries and smaller firms to be part of supply chains that span the continent, creating jobs here at home and making the UK more prosperous.

“The Leave campaign admit that their preferred choice means withdrawing British firms’ access to the EU single market of 500 million people. This will put British businesses out in the cold and hit jobs.”

Analysis: Jonty Bloom, BBC News
The CBI says that the Leave campaign have identified four countries as potential future models for our relationship with the EU, but that all have serious shortcomings and none is as good as the deal we have at the moment.

Norway has the closest relationship with the EU and most of its economy is part of the single market; Switzerland has negotiated access for many industries but both countries cannot control immigration from the EU; Canada and Albania have free trade deals with the EU, but those do not cover all industries.

The CBI’s Director general Carolyn Fairbairn said business federations in all four countries have outlined the “serious shortcomings” for their firms from the relationships they have with the EU.
She also said the single market is one of the UK’s great success stories and leaving would damage the economy.

But Matthew Elliot, chief executive of Vote Leave, said the CBI wants people to believe that the UK can’t take back control from Brussels and secure new trade deals.
The Vote Leave campaign said that people in Norway and Switzerland had no desire to join the EU, and said the CBI was “funded by the European Commission”.

It added that the CBI was “notoriously secret” about the number of members it has.
Matthew Elliott, chief executive of Vote Leave, said: “The CBI’s unflinching support for Brussels is simply not credible.

“They have consistently called it wrong on the EU, ranging from support for joining the euro to opposition to a referendum and support for the Exchange Rate Mechanism.
“Now they want us to believe that we can’t take back control from Brussels and secure new trade deals.”

Terrific: Alligator Drags Boy Into Water Near Orlando Disney Resort

Florida police are searching for a two-year-old boy who was dragged into water by an alligator near a Disney resort.

The boy was on the shoreline of the Seven Seas Lagoon by the Disney Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Orlando when he was dragged away late on Tuesday, officials said.
The boy’s father entered the water and tried in vain to grab him from the alligator, Sheriff Jerry Demings said.

Fifty police and wildlife experts were searching for the boy, he said.
What are the world’s deadliest animals?

The family with three children from the state of Nebraska were relaxing near the shore of the lagoon when the incident happened at 21:16 local time (01:16 GMT), the sheriff said.
The Grand Floridian is a luxury resort owned by Disney and is located near Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park.
A Disney spokeswoman said the company was “devastated” by the incident.

Alligators live across Florida and are a “fundamental part” of its wetlands, swamps, rivers and lakes, state wildlife officials say.
Twenty-two people have been killed by alligators in Florida since 1948, they say.

SHOCKING! Policeman’s Wife Batters Her 10yrs Old Niece Over Just N30

The wickedness of some women ehn…no be here oh! A 38yrs old trader, Mrs. Caroline Akanwa, has been arrested by the Area C Police Command, Lagos, for allegedly battering her niece, Chioma Uneneme.
It was learnt that Mrs. Akanwa had in 2015 brought the 10-year-old from Okofia, Anambra State, to the Iponri Police Barracks, where she lived with her policeman husband and two children.

The victim was said to have assisted with the house chores, as well as the management of Akanwa’s recharge cards business (house girl).

According to Punch, the suspect always flogged Uneneme for every offence till her back was marred with sores. On one of such occasions, the victim was said to have been battered for allegedly selling a recharge card of N1,000 for N970.

Uneneme’s teacher at the St. Paul Primary School, Iponri, who discovered the scars, reportedly took her to a hospital for treatment.

The hospital management, however, insisted on a police extract before going ahead with the treatment. The school was said to have written a petition to the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender.

Officials of the OPD and policewomen from the Area C Command were said to have gone to the barracks to arrest Mrs. Akanwa.

In her statement at the OPD, the woman confessed to the crime, saying she never meant to inflict injuries on her niece.

She said, “Chioma (Uneneme) is my niece. I brought her to Lagos last year and she has been staying with me. I never intended to inflict injuries on her.

“Some time ago, a customer came to buy a N1,000 recharge card. She sold it for N970 after the person said he did not have the balance. I spanked her for it.

“The latest happened on June 7. My husband and I were not in the house. Somebody came and said my husband’s car was blocking his and he could not move out.

“She gave the person my husband’s car key and the man bashed my husband’s car while trying to move it. When I returned and saw what had happened, I beat her. Aside these, she steals from me. I beat her like I beat my children.”

The Director of OPD, Mrs. Omotola Rotimi, who spoke through the PRO of the agency, Adeoba Adeniji-Adele, said “We have taken custody of the child and she is now in one of our transit homes.”

Mrs. Akanwa was arraigned on Friday in a family court in Surulere and pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault levelled against her by the police.
She was said to have been admitted to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

A source said, “The magistrate said one of the sureties must be a blood relation and the second, a civil servant of level 12 and above. One must also have a landed property in Lagos and the property should be verified by the Lagos State Government. The sum of N50,000 is to be paid to the account of the Auditor General of Lagos State. She was remanded in prison custody pending when she would meet the bail conditions.”

Shocking! Dokpesi & Wife Escapes Death In Abuja, Sergent Shot Dead By The Assasins

Some say it could be an inside job because the man is married to more than one wife, others say it could be as a result of his involvement in politics. Shandileo.com gathered that Chief Raymond Dokpesi, owner of DAAR Communications and one of his wives, Tosin Dokpesi, narrowly escaped death on Saturday in what appears to be an assassination attempt.

A police detail attached to Dokpesi, Sergeant Den Gaius of the FCT Police Command, was murdered in cold blood by the armed assailants who rained bullets on his car. Below are the details…

According to an eyewitness, four suspected assassins were sighted in a Honda Accord car. They accosted the deceased in front of Child Care and Awareness Clinic at No 7, Fez Street, Off Kumasi Crescent Wuse 2 Abuja at 2.30am on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

The office of the Chairman of Daar Communications stated that:

“The Managing Director of Africa Independent Television, Dr Mrs Oluwatosin Dokpesi who had arrived from Lagos complained of serious stomach cramps and was rushed to the Child Care and Awareness hospital in Wuse 2. She was accompanied by her cousin Ms Abolore Sode and an aide, Ms Aisha Adamu. They were escorted by the deceased sergeant.

They were trailed by the Honda Accord and as soon as Mrs Dokpesi alighted from the car and entered the hospital, the assailants attacked them. They were asking the driver and sergeant about Mrs Dokpesi’s whereabouts. They collected the handset of the driver and shot the sergeant thrice and made away with the AK47 of the sergeant.

They did not go with the Prado vehicle nor did they collect any items. The driver said that the assailants said in Hausa that ‘He is not there. Bastard! We will still get him’. They shot thrice at the sergeant and sped off. He died on the spot.”

A Horny Pastor was Arrested For Defiling His 17-year-old Daughter

A pastor who could not control his sexual urge has been arrested and charged to court for defiling his 17-year-old daughter. A 45-year-old Zimbabwean pastor based in Leeds, Washington Chogugudza, has been arrested by British police on allegations that he r*ped his 17-year-old daughter over a period of time.

According to a report by Nehanda Radio, Chogugudza, a pastor at Showers of Mercy Ministries International was arrested by police last week Wednesday. He has pleaded not guilty to the offence.
However, it was gathered that a shocking audio recording exposed how he tried to blackmail his daughter into sleeping with him. On one occasion he tried to sleep with her when they were preparing to go to church.
One minute into the tape she pleads with him “I don’t want to do it today.”

On 6 minutes she tells him “Daddy stop it.”
“We can talk without holding” she is again heard telling him 7 minutes into the tape.
“We have already been through this but not today.”

“Can you not hold me then, I don’t feel comfortable.”

“Daddy no, I don’t want to do this, why can’t you do it with mama (mum), stop it, Daddy stop it, I don’t feel comfortable with this though, you are supposed to be my dad.”

The man is shockingly heard begging “only for 2 minutes.”
When the girl stands her ground he then says “You have made your point sister…so dhiri rapera ka (the deal is off), we are going to do normal things, no special favours.”

He threatens he will not buy his daughter a vehicle worth £5000 as promised to her. He tells the daughter her refusal to sleep with him will actually save him from spending £5000. The girl can be heard in the audio pleading“Not today daddy, not today.”

After a few more minutes, he again tries to force himself on her. The girl is heard fighting him off while shouting“daddy stop it, I don’t like it, daddy stop it.”
“Hope we are not going to fall out,” Chogugudza asks his daughter as he for the third time tries to force himself on her. The girl again tells him “NO, I don’t like it.”

He was later arrested after detectives got news about the incident which later led him to be charged to court.
Chogugudza is believed to have attended Chaplin High School in Gweru and then Mkoba Teachers College in the same city. He later relocated to the UK. The woman he was staying with is the daughter’s step mother.
Chogugudza remains in police custody. He appeared in court last week and was denied bail.

Amazing!!! Army Officer Wins Miss USA Pageant

For the first time in 14 years (and only third time in history), Miss District of Columbia took home the crown at the Miss USA pageant on Sunday night.

Deshauna Barber, a 26-year-old Army officer and IT analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce, won first place over Miss Georgia Emanii Davis and Miss Hawaii Chelsea Hardin, the runner-up.

Barber, who graduated from Virginia State University in 2011, joined the military at age 17. Her parents and siblings also serve; her father was deployed overseas to Iraq after the Sept. 11 attacks.

“I consider it to be a family tradition,” she said in a pre-show interview of military service. “It’s something that runs through our veins — patriotism and service for this country.”

According to her Miss USA bio, Barber is currently a logistics commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit in Fort Meade, Md.

During the pageant, announcers called her “the most disciplined contestant this year.” Her background added context to her much-applauded answer during the Q&A portion of the evening, as her question covered women in combat.

“The Pentagon recently made the decision to open up all combat jobs to women,” judge and stylist Joe Zee said. “Now, some have questioned whether this has put political correctness over our military’s ability to perform at the highest level. What are your thoughts?”

Barber didn’t hesitate. “As a woman in the United States Army, I think it was an amazing job by our government to allow women to integrate to every branch of the military. We are just as tough as men,” she said to lots of cheers from the crowd. “As a commander of my unit, I am powerful. I am dedicated. And it is important that we recognize that gender does not limit us in the United States Army.”

On social media, some viewers pointed to her answer as the moment Barber locked up the crown. Before the pageant, she spoke about breaking the mold for not only Miss USA contestants, but military soldiers.

“I’m being able to say that no one pageant girl does the same thing or has the same background, and I’m also saying that no one soldier has the same background and does the same thing,” Barber said. “We can be feminine, we can be in beauty contests, we can be models. So there’s stereotypes on both sides that I feel like I’m breaking by even being here and being able to compete for Miss USA.”

The pageant aired on Fox after NBC dropped the annual event last year, when the network cut all ties with former pageant owner Donald Trump. The producers couldn’t pass up the opportunity to slip Trump into a question during the Q&A portion; judge and Harper’s Bazaar executive editor Laura Brown asked Miss Hawaii Chelsea Hardin if she would vote for Trump or Hillary Clinton for president.

The crowd immediately started booing — Hardin looked a bit shocked then quickly composed herself and dodged a direct answer. “What we need in the United States is someone who represents those of us who feel we don’t have a voice…we need a president to push to what is right and push for what America really needs,” she said.

Naturally, some people started tweeting angrily at Brown — given, you know, voting is private. After a couple commercial breaks, co-hosts Julianne Hough and Terrence Jenkins tried to calm the online crowd, and reiterated that the Miss USA organization creates the questions.

“If you’re on Twitter, the judges did not come up with those questions, alright? Just so that you know. They were randomly picked,” Jenkins said as the audience started booing again. “I know that you are booing, and she answered the question marvelously.”

Madonna Wins Vogue Copyright Case US Court Has Ruled

Madonna’s Vogue did not break copyright law, even though it contained a snippet of another artist’s song, a US court has ruled.
The case revolved around a horn “hit”, which was allegedly lifted from the Salsoul Orchestra track Love Break.

But the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said the sample lasted less than a second, and would not have been recognisable to the general public

“Without careful attention, the horn hits are easy to miss,” it said.

Producer Shep Pettibone worked on both Vogue and Love Break. The one-note horn sequence in contention lasted just 0.23 seconds, the court heard.
You can hear the original at 4’40” in this clip, and at 1’02” in Madonna’s track.

“After listening to the recordings,” wrote judge Susan P Graber, “we conclude that a reasonable jury could not conclude that an average audience would recognise the appropriation of the composition”.
However, the court’s decision was not unanimous, with Judge Barry G Silverman arguing that the uncredited sample, if proven, would amount to theft.

“It is no defence to theft that the thief made off with only a ‘de minimis’ part of the victim’s property,” Silverman wrote.

He said a copyright of a recording amounted to a “valuable property right, the stock-in-trade of artists who make their living recording music and selling records”.

The ruling could lead to short samples becoming more commonplace.
However, as The Hollywood Reporter points out, the California court’s decision directly contradicts a 2006 case presented in the 6th Circuit (Tennessee).

That revolved around an NWA song that sampled a riff from George Clinton’s band Funkadelic. At the time, a 6th Circuit judge wrote: “Get a license or do not sample. We do not see this as stifling creativity in any significant way.”

US President Barack Obama Pays Tribute To Muhammad Ali

President Barack Obama paid tribute to Muhammad Ali on Saturday, praising the boxing great’s lasting contribution to American society.
Three-time heavyweight champion Ali died late on Friday night after being admitted to a Phoenix hospital on Thursday night with a respiratory problem.

Ali’s stunning upset win over then-heavyweight champion Sonny Liston in 1964 turned him into a household name worldwide. He then famously defeated George Foreman in the Rumble in the Jungle in Kinshasa and Joe Frazier in theThrilla in Manila in The Philippines. In total Ali made 19 successful title defences during his career.

But his principled stance and refusal to fight in the Vietnam War – which saw him arrested and later suspended from boxing – made the flamboyant fighter a hero to the masses, and Obama says Ali became “a powerful force for peace and reconciliation around the world”.
“Muhammad Ali was the greatest – period,” read a joint statement from the President and the First Lady.

“If you just asked him, he’d tell you. He’d tell you he was the double greatest; that he’d ‘handcuffed lightning, thrown thunder into jail’.
“In my private study, just off the Oval Office, I keep a pair of his gloves on display, just under that iconic photograph of him – the young champ, just 22 years old, roaring like a lion over a fallen Sonny Liston.

Ali fought George Foreman in one of the most famous bouts in boxing history
Ali fought George Foreman in one of the most famous bouts in boxing history
“I was too young when it was taken to understand who he was – still Cassius Clay, already an Olympic Gold Medal winner, yet to set out on a spiritual journey that would lead him to his Muslim faith, exile him at the peak of his power, and set the stage for his return to greatness with a name as familiar to the downtrodden in the slums of Southeast Asia and the villages of Africa as it was to cheering crowds in Madison Square Garden.

“I am America, he once declared. ‘I am the part you won’t recognise. But get used to me – black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own. Get used to me’.
“That’s the Ali I came to know as I came of age – not just as skilled a poet on the mic as he was a fighter in the ring, but a man who fought for what was right. A man who fought for us. He stood with (Dr. Martin Luther) King and Mandela; stood up when it was hard; spoke out when others wouldn’t.
“His fight outside the ring would cost him his title and his public standing. It would earn him enemies on the left and the right, make him reviled, and nearly send him to jail. But Ali stood his ground. And his victory helped us get used to the America we recognise today.

“He wasn’t perfect, of course. For all his magic in the ring, he could be careless with his words, and full of contradictions as his faith evolved. But his wonderful, infectious, even innocent spirit ultimately won him more fans than foes – maybe because in him, we hoped to see something of ourselves.

“Later, as his physical powers ebbed, he became an even more powerful force for peace and reconciliation around the world.
Ali 'was a man who fought for us,' says Obama

“We saw a man who said he was so mean he’d make medicine sick reveal a soft spot, visiting children with illness and disability around the world, telling them they, too, could become the greatest.

“We watched a hero light a torch, and fight his greatest fight of all on the world stage once again; a battle against the disease that ravaged his body, but couldn’t take the spark from his eyes.
“Muhammad Ali shook up the world. And the world is better for it. We are all better for it. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family, and we pray that the greatest fighter of them all finally rests in peace.”

I Have Found Jesus, I'm Tired of These Madness - Charly Boy

After all the craze and what have you, Area fada Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy is now a new man. He said he has encountered “positivity” and he has abandoned all the razzmatazz associated with the entertainment industry for the gospel of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
In a chat with Encomium, Charly Boy said his encounter with Jesus was the freakiest moment of his life:

What have you been up to lately?
I have been up to all sorts. It is never a dull moment with me. My whole life is about adding value to people I am opportuned to meet. Adding value to my environment and just finding a way to be useful not just to myself but my family and my environment. So, I pretty much stay busy all the time and if it is a dull moment, I create things for me to do.

You’ve been so controversial on social media lately, what inspired it?
I think a lot, that is my job. I am a journalist. I talk about all the things that affect me, that affect my loved one, things that affect other people. So, I have always been talking since I became Charly Boy. I have always had opinions about somethings happening. First, I am a journalist and I keep telling you that before anything else. So, I write a lot. I am a social commentator of some sort. My job is to call the attention to the things that are awesome and to react when I see the things that are not good at all.

Can you tell us about your encounter with Jesus?
My encounter with Jesus was the freakiest moment, and if you read the piece I wrote, it is just saying that God really wants us to be real but the Nigeria perception about Jesus and how it works is just too Nigerian for my liking. They look at Jesus/God as babalawo or the pastors make some sacrifices and bring some money and goats and all the problems will disappear. It doesn’t happen like that and these days people are not going to church to nurture their spirituality. Rather, it is either they are looking for babies, wife or husband or promotion. It is all about the wrong reasons for being a Christian.

So, God was just telling me that in most of these churches they don’t have anything to do with Christ or God. They are there for business. I was wondering what does Jesus want from me? Is it for me to intensify my campaign for the hopeless, the downtrodden, people who have been consumed by this wickedness in the country. There are a lot of nice people who are losing their niceties because they don’t know what else to do. They are just hopeless.

Hopelessness is hanging over their head. They are frustrated, confused and they want to stay good because they were born good but they are losing their goodness because of the battle of survival. Like a young lady, who has been brought up in a humble and decent home but because she is looking for a job that is not there and her parents cannot afford to take care of her anymore, she is industrious and nobody to help. Finally, she resorts to prostitution, whereas under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t go that direction but it is just out of desperation. So, those are the souls I am hoping to capture before they go completely bad. This is what the environment has turned out to be.

Can you please tell us the things Jesus told you to stop doing?
All those contrived stuff that Charly Boy did and not me as Mr. Oputa, they have been outgrown. So, I have left them for other people who want to continue the madness.

Looking at the rate of marriage breakup generally in the entertainment industry, what will you say about it?
It is an unfortunate thing. I am saddened about it, especially with my son, the one in America. He is 39 and there is this Nigerian girl that he is dating. As I was hoping he will get married sooner or later only for him to turn around and ask me, must he be married, I was like what are you talking about and he started telling me that he does not understand this marriage thing. Why can’t he just have a contract with the girl, maybe we stay for four years, then if we want to continue they would renew the contract rather than for better for worse. That he doesn’t understand it.

That also gave me a cause of concern. Marriage is not a bed of roses. It is for people who have major respect for each other and want to stay in a marriage. Marriage is a lot of work and I still want all my children to get married the traditional way, discipline themselves to maintain that commitment forever. I discovered that the average youth marriage, especially in Nigeria doesn’t last more than two years. This is crazy and terrible. I volunteered as usual, not because I am an expert or because I came with some experience, I have been married before my present one that is working out. I have been married thrice before but they didn’t work out. Now, I think I was immature at that time but now I am in a better position to at least talk to younger people and share my own experience. Maybe there is something they can learn from it or something that I can learn from what they are going through.

How did you discover the marriage councellor part of you?
It has always been there but not for the public. I am a teacher of some sort. I have been teaching all of my life, especially as Charly Boy. Many of these big artistes passed through the Charly Boy Show. Many of these young people passed through the Charly Boy university. I have mentored thousands and thousands of people. Because of me and the way I live my life, they have been emboldened to chase their own dreams and never give up.

How have you been able to sustain your marriage even with the tales of controversies?
It’s because I really want to stay married to that person and that person wants to stay married to me. So, it has to be two people who want to stay marred. Controversy is contrived. Charly Boy is Charly Boy. Charly Boy doesn’t live in our house, Charly Boy doesn’t come home. My children know Charly Boy but they know Mr. Oputa as their father. That is the big difference.

Charly Boy is an image, he is a character, he is not who I am. I am Mr. Oputa but yes it is not every artiste that can strictly define and separate their image from what they really are. To some people, it can get so confusing that they don’t know if they are really that image or they are somebody else. I am on top of my game and that is the difference between a character, an image or a personality.

Lil Wayne Disses Birdman, Promises 2 New Albums

Lil Wayne and Cash Money are still at it with their feud. Over the weekend, Weezy opened up about the beef during his performance at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona.

“These ni**as got me in bars right now,” he said. “They don’t want to see me make good music. I don’t know what the fuck is going on, but fuck them ni**as.”

Despite his problems with Birdman’s label, Wayne promised fresh material for his supporters. “I’ve got two new albums coming y’all way,” he announced.

Last week, it was reported that peace talks between Weezy and Birdman failed. During Denver’s 420 Rally, Wayne encouraged fans to recite anti-Cash Money chants.

While in Phoenix, he took more shots at Cash Money and its chief. “Say fuck the bullshit,” Weezy told the crowd. “Say fuck the world. Say fuck the Birdman and fuck Cash Money.”
