Kendrick Lamar Sits Down With President Obama And Shared Same Views

From Compton to the White House: Kendrick Lamar is leading by example. Grammy’s golden boy continues his series of motivational PSAs. After promoting the value of “Hard Work,” he plays mentor in a new PSA for President Obama’s initiative, My Brother’s Keeper. In the minute-long clip, directed by Dave Meyers and The Little Homies, Kendrick becomes a mentor to the youth.

“If it helps the next kid become a better person in life, I will forever be aware of my influence and pay it forward,” he says.

He also shares never-before-seen photos from his visit to the White House, where he met with President Obama. Kendrick takes a seat in the Oval Office and shakes hands with Obama in front of a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, while discussing topics concerning the inner cities and youth.

“I sat down with President Barack Obama and shared the same views, topics concerning the inner cities, the problem, the solutions, and further more embracing the youth, both being aware that mentoring saves lives,” he reveals. “Sometimes I reflect and think back, ‘Where would I be if I hadn’t had the presence of an older acquaintance telling me what’s right and what’s wrong?’”

He encourages others to join him in “paying it forward” and support My Brother’s Keeper and MENTOR.

It turns out Obama is also a K-Dot fan. He chose “How Much a Dollar Cost” as his favorite song of 2015.

Apple Music Has Hits 10 Million Subscribers

Apple Music now has 10 million paid subscribers, according to a report from the Financial Times — a userbase that it took Spotify six years to accumulate.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But the report indicates that the company’s move into the streaming music world seems to be paying early dividends. The company had reported in October that it had nabbed 6.5 million paying customers, three months after it debuted under a three-month free trial for all users. At that time, 8.5 million users were still under the trial.

Apple Music had the distinct advantage of having a built-in audience, launching directly onto millions of iPhones by way of the company’s default music app. (Not to mention Mac, iPads and iPods.) Since then, Apple has also released the service for Android phones, opening up its potential customer base even more.

The 10 million figure isn’t an unqualified success — Apple has lost a good number of people who signed up for the free trial. But if the company is able to keep this kind of growth up, Music Business Worldwide projected that the firm could reach 100 million users in 6 years — reportedly an internal goal for Apple. That would far outstrip what any streaming music service has accomplished so far.

That’s not to say that other music streaming services are on the ropes. Spotify currently boasts at least 20 million paying customers among its 75 million active users, according to numbers it released in June. (Unlike Apple Music, Spotify has a free tier.) Following the FT report, Spotify spokesman Jonathan Prince took to Twitter to say that the company had seen its “fastest ever” subscriber growth in the last half of 2015, likely putting it at around 25 million subscribers in total.

Both services cost $9.99 per month for paying customers, though a Spotify subscription made through the Apple store costs $12.99 due to Apple store policies.

Streaming music is the undisputed bright spot for the music industry right now. That leaves no mystery as to why Apple wanted to start adapting the music download juggernaut it’s built with iTunes into a different business model.

Sales of digital downloads have started to fall, like the CD before them. (Vinyl is up slightly, but not enough to offset the drop-offs in other categories.) Nielsen said in its annual end-of-the-year music report that 2015 digital sales were down 2.9 percent from the same time last year. The report also found that we’re buying fewer tracks overall, from 1.1 billion in 2014 to 964.8 million in 2015.

Overall music consumption, however, was up 26 percent — thanks, in large part, to an increase in audio and video music streaming.

Mike Tyson Proud For World Champion Tyson Fury

Mike Tyson has declared that his namesake Tyson Fury is the best world heavyweight champion since himself.

The American icon, a former WBC, WBA and IBF title-holder, has launched a defence of the current world champion who inherited his name.

Fury, who was declared RING Magazine’s Fighter of the Year on Monday, was given the name Tyson by his father to honour the Brooklyn legend, who was the world heavyweight champion on the day of the current incumbent’s birth.

“I’m just happy he was the champ,” Tyson said. “You can say what you want about Tyson Fury, make fun of him, but there’s one guy in the US named Michael Gerard Tyson who’s so proud he has my name.

“We’re all laughing at him, laughing about him, but I’m on an ego trip. I’m sky high. The heavyweight champion of the world got my name.

Mike Tyson was a fearsome knockout artist who remains the youngest ever undisputed heavyweight champion

“He is the best heavyweight champion of the world since myself. He is the man, I don’t care what anybody says.

“I know this is going to sound ignorant, he can say what he wants to say. You know who are going to look up to him? The people who never thought they had a chance in their life.”

Fury, who ended Wladimir Klitschko’s 11-year run on top of the heavyweight division last month and awaits a rematch this year, was rewarded by the prestigious honour from RING Magazine.

Responding via Twitter, Fury addressed Tyson before turning his attention towards his latest accolade.

Tyson Fury won WBA Super, WBO and IBF belts in Dusseldorf although the latter has since been stripped

“Big shout my man @MikeTyson,” he tweeted. “Proud to carry your name.”

He continue: “I can’t believe I’ve just won RING Magazine Fighter of the Year! I’m so flattered.

“Beat the best in the world to take this crown.”

Mark Zuckerberg Reviews Personal 2016 Plans

Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg, is aiming at building an artificial intelligent assistant in 2016. These will help him run most of his work effectively. The Facebook Inc founder and chief executive said on Sunday.

Zuckerberg, who has always be committed to a new personal challenge every year, revealed his plan in a Facebook post.

He said “You can think of it kind of like Jarvis in Iron Man,”. Which means an artificial intelligent butler who appears in the Marvel comic books and movies.

Zuckerberg will start the project by exploring existing technology, he wrote. He will then begin teaching the technology to understand his voice so that it will learn to control everything in his home, such as music, lights and temperature.

His plans also include teaching the assistant to let friends into his home by looking at their faces when they ring the doorbell, Zuckerberg wrote. The assistant will visualize data to support Zuckerberg at work, he wrote.

“This should be a fun intellectual challenge to code this for myself,” Zuckerberg wrote. “I’m looking forward to sharing what I learn over the course of the year.”

Other challenges Zuckerberg has taken on in recent years have included reading two books every month and learning Mandarin.

Four New Chemical Elements Was Added To Periodic Table - Science

Four chemical elements have been formally added to the periodic table, completing the scheme’s seventh row.

They are the first to be included in the table since 2011, when elements 114 and 116 were added.

The first true iteration of the table was produced in 1869 by the Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev.

The new additions were formally verified by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) on 30 December 2015.

The body announced that a team of Russian and American researchers had provided sufficient evidence to claim the discovery of elements 115, 117 and 118.

IUPAC awarded credit for the discovery of element 113 to a Japanese team at the Riken Institute.

The teams responsible for the discoveries have been invited to come up with permanent names and chemical symbols for the now-confirmed elements.

“The chemistry community is eager to see its most cherished table finally being completed down to the seventh row. IUPAC has now initiated the process of formalising names and symbols for these elements,” said Prof Jan Reedijk, president of the inorganic chemistry division of IUPAC.

New elements can be named after a mythological concept, a mineral, a place or country, a property or a scientist.

After the responsible IUPAC division accepts the new names and two-letter symbols, they will be presented for public review for five months.

The chemistry organisation’s council will then make a final decision.

Madonna’s Son Rocco Ritchie Block Mum From Using Instagram

Rocco Ritchie has deleted his Instagram after reportedly blocking his mum Madonna as their relationship continues to be strained.

The teenage son of the Material Girl and Guy Ritchie, who had 138,000 followers on the photo-sharing website, opted to delete his account amid a reported feud with his mother.

Yesterday it was claimed Rocco, 15, had blocked Madge from seeing his posts, he has now decided to remove his page altogether, according to RadarOnline.

A source previously said: “It’s not a great sign that Rocco is blocking his mum on social media, especially after all the reports that she was embarrassing him with her posts about him.

“It’s even more of a blow because he allows Jacqui [Ainsley, his stepmother] and Guy to still follow him and he follows them back. Hopefully this is just a teenage teething problem.”

The news that Rocco has deleted his account comes amid claims Guy has hired a lawyer to fight for custody of his son.

Rocco is keen to live in London full-time with his father and defied a recent court order to return to New York to be with his mother, and the director is doing his best to support the teenager’s position.

According to TMZ, Rocco – and his father – feel he has a more “stable and loving” home life with Guy, his wife Jacqui and their three children, Rafael, four, Rivka, three, and Levi, 18 months.

The teenager reportedly thinks his ‘Like a Virgin’ singer mother is “too controlling” and doesn’t pay him any real attention.

Because of Rocco’s strong views, Guy has now hired a lawyer and is preparing for a legal battle to keep custody of his son, who left Madonna’s tour a month ago and refused to return to her for Christmas.

A New York judge has ordered Rocco back to the US for a hearing next month.

Insiders told TMZ the former couple don’t get along and Guy used a visit from Rocco to “stoke the coals” when he was angry at Madonna.

The pair are said to clash frequently over the youngster because the 57-year-old singer is strict and “very controlling”.

Despite the drama, the Queen of Pop proudly uploaded a number of loving pictures showing her kids having fun – and sent a message of love to her son.

Sharing a snap of the pair on Instagram alongside the message: “Merry X-mas to the Sun-shine of my Life!”

A rep for Madonna and Guy have been approached for comment.

Anglican Pastor Dies After Cross-Over

The watch-night joint church service in Tema on December 31, 2015, turned tragic when Rev Fr Professor George Ankrah-Badu, former Hematologist at the University of Ghana Medical School, died shortly after ‘crossing over’ into the New Year.

The Anglican priest, who doubles as Head of the Sickle Cell Disease Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, was said to have collapsed while conducting the watch-night service to usher members of the church into the New Year (2016).

He was quickly revived by some medics present at the church and made to take some rest.

Professor Ankrah-Badu, according to information, drove himself to his residence at Community 10, Tema, after the church service.

He however, reportedly felt some awkwardness when he got home and called a colleague doctor to pick him up to the Narh-Bita https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=4710817004717388421#editor/target=post;postID=752901536387017048Hospital, Community 4, Tema.

Information from the hospital revealed that the priest himself walked from the car into one of the top private health facilities. After some medical examination, he was admitted and infusions placed on him to stabilize him.

His condition got worsened as doctors at the hospital tried to save him but could not; he died at about 5:05 am on January 1, 2016.

The motionless body of the hematologist has been deposited at the Tema General Hospital for autopsy.

A member of the church, who pleaded anonymity, told DAILY GUIDE that Prof. Ankrah-Badu was hale and hearty when he went to the church for the watch-night service.

According to the member who also attended the service, the Anglican Priest joined other members of the church in singing and dancing.

However, not long after that, he was seen swooning and so some members rushed to hold him and he was sent to one of the offices where he was revived and joined other worshippers before leaving for the house.
